Our part-time staff member Rachael was at Planned Parenthood. She called out to a couple in their twenties as the woman walked into the facility. The father came over to the fence to take literature and talk to Rachael. “Collin” initially said that he wasn’t going to try to convince his girlfriend “Sarah” not to abort their baby; but as he continued to talk to Rachael, he felt more and more that he wanted to get her out of the facility. At one point Sarah did come out and look over the literature and free help.
I was at Planned Parenthood a week and a half later when I met Collin. He and Sarah’s mom both said they tried to talk her out of it. Her mother even offered to raise the baby. I sat with Collin on the curb as he wept over his baby that was being dismembered. He kept calling and texting Sarah and even tried to go back to the surgical room. The staff would not let him back. Sarah never responded. It was too late.
Collin was not a Christian. I shared how much God loves us, how Jesus Christ suffered for us, and how we can unite our own suffering to His. I explained the gift of God’s infinite mercy that He offers us- a mercy that can unite Collin, Sarah, and their baby for all eternity in heaven. After I prayed with Collin, Sarah came out basically laying on him. Collin carried her to the car while he wiped away tears. As Sarah was driven off, I told her that God will always love her, that His infinite mercy is there for her, and that she can be healed.
We must pray and work to end this. This cannot remain legal. I firmly believe that if abortion was illegal, Sarah would have never done this to her baby. With our amendment in Ohio, we cannot prevent abortion legally, but we can make ourselves present to advocate for these children and offer help to families as a last line of defense. I arrived late to be able to reach Sarah when she went in for her abortion appointment. Maybe someone being there could have made a difference. The time that Collin and Sarah arrived is one of the four times we have left to fill. There are also several times where just a partner is needed. Learn more at CatholicsForLife.us/FacilityMinistry.
Please pray for laborers to be sent to the harvest to fill these times before the summer is over. Please pray for Sarah to open her soul to the mercy and grace of Jesus. Pray that her and Collin will encounter God’s grace in the sacraments. Pray for all the fathers who experience lost fatherhood, whether of their own fault or not. Pray for abortion to end. Pray for us as we continue to reach these souls with Christ’s love before and after aborting their children. Thank you for standing with us in this fight for a culture of life!
May Numbers: We saw 2 babies saved (a mother who was 8-weeks pregnant and a couple who got a second opinion about the mother’s health), 5 mothers turned away, and 6 other mothers that we have good reason to believe they kept their babies!Pray for Breanna, who we have spoken to twice; for Felix, a Catholic father trying to talk his girlfriend out of the abortion; and for Elizabeth. We had a record 87 people take literature from us at the facilities this month! We had 10 new volunteers. We handed out Gospel holy cards and rosaries in a procession. We trained 5 people who led their first street outreach in Indiana!
