This month, we had twelve people join us for our evangelization in downtown Columbus, Ohio, and we held our first outreaches out of Ohio during our first Catholics for Life trip to the March for Life! We had twenty people travel to Washington D.C. with us in two 15-passenger vans. After doing pro-life apologetics and evangelism training on the trip there, we arrived for the Vigil for Life Opening Mass at the National Shrine of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. On the day of the March for Life we went to the Closing Mass at the Basilica, prayed and counseled at the Planned Parenthood Carol Whitehall Moses Center, marched the new route in the first March for Life without Roe v. Wade being the national precedent for abortion, and toured our national monuments reflecting on how our work to end abortion relates back to the heroes memorialized there. On Saturday, we went to Mass at the Catholic University of America before leading a street evangelism with a pro-life focus at the Whitehouse. In one area, we held an Our Lady of America banner asking Mary to bless our nation, and we had our table where we passed out several rosaries, Miraculous Medals, St. Benedict medal crucifixes, Gospels of Luke, fetal models, and pamphlets to a fallen-away Catholic. In the surrounding area, we passed out literature next to signs of preborn babies and signs of children killed in DC less than a year ago at the DC Surgi Center. People were shocked to see photos of late-term babies legally killed in our nation’s capital. We ended our trip by visiting the Holocaust Museum to see and remember the victims of the past and be inspired to rescue the victims of the future.
Before and after we were marching in Washington, our sidewalk counseling efforts saw three children rescued from abortion! We spoke to Mother A as she was leaving her consultation appointment. Her husband is deployed, she had a new job, and they already have a sixth month old baby. The following week, we saw her pulling out of the driveway again and she informed us that she changed her mind! She talked to her husband and looked through the packet we gave her. She said she felt like it all was a sign from God that they should keep their baby! Shortly after that, we took six people to help her finish moving into a new home.
Mother S was the first woman we stopped on her way pulling into the abortion facility for months after feeling very convicted to try to do that. She is in a mentally and physically abusive relationship. She was praying about the abortion and knows God does not want her to have the abortion. She was asking for a sign from God and felt like talking to us was that sign. “You are definitely making the decision [to keep my baby] easier for me,” she said as she left to go park and walk into her appointment. Ten minutes later she came back down the driveway in tears saying, “I couldn’t do it!” She never even went inside. She followed us to the Pregnancy Decision Health Center two miles away and received an ultrasound there.
Our volunteer, Lorraine, spoke to Mother C leaving her consultation appointment. She already has 7-month-old and an older daughter (neither child has her red hair and Lorrain told her, “This baby will probably be your red head!”). There was just a death in the family, they are down to only one car while trying to move, and so much is going on in her life. Her daughter asked her what was wrong as she lay in bed crying that morning, and she cried the whole appointment. She did look at the ultrasound and knows she has a baby. By the end of the conversation, she said she is not coming back, and we were able to confirm that she did not return for the abortion appointment! Praise God that He used us to rescue these three children and help their families! Please pray for them all!
On top of these three babies saved, we had fourteen other people with appointments at Your Choice Healthcare speak to us during the month, including a mother trying to stop her daughter from aborting, a mother whose pregnancy poses risk to her health, a mother who was raped, a father against his girlfriend’s abortion, multiple mothers who had just taken the abortion pill, two mothers crying after their appointments, and many more. While on the sidewalk, we also got to evangelize people walking and driving by, including a fallen-away Christian, an atheist discussing morality, and a woman asking about birth control being an abortifacient. At Planned Parenthood, we praise God that we had a couple turn away and go to the Women’s Care Center! We also talked to a fifteen-year-old getting birth control. We confirmed that Dr. William Roddick is the only doctor working at Your Choice Healthcare now. Please pray for his repentance. A woman recently committed to coming once per month to pray and counsel at the abortion facility and brought a friend who had never been before. If you are interested in filling a time at the abortion facility, please let us know! Take a look at our page concerning the new 70 Disciples Initiative that we are officially launching in February.
Thank you for all your prayers, financial partnership, and help! May God bless you! AMDG!
