Counseling a mother who was sobbing over having just taken the abortion pill was one of the hardest conversations our team has ever had. She had recently immigrated, is in an abusive relationship, and already has one baby that the father of her this new child won’t care for. She said she does “not want her children to suffer” and feels she could not bear adoption. She admitted that she knows abortion is wrong, and she explained that feels so bad every time she thinks about it. Despite our pleading, she would not go to the pregnancy center that does abortion pill reversal with us. Please pray for Bree and her baby.
While Bree seemed so divided over aborting her baby, other women left yelling, “F--- them kids” and “I’m definitely killing my baby!” As another couple left, the mother flipped us off. As we kept trying to offer them information, she rolled down her window and listened. As she took literature, she said, “Thank you, I did not know that” referencing pregnancy resource centers. A woman who had an abortion took literature. She was initially saying that we should save the literature for someone else and was shaking her head in agreement when were talking about the regret people can have after abortion. It seems that mothers more quickly experience and acknowledge regrets openly after chemical abortions. Maybe this is due to the fact that the abortion takes place in your home. Your bedroom and bathroom are a constant reminder. Lastly, a woman who appeared to have just taken the abortion pill took information and thanked us. She was trying to talk to us but the woman driving pulled away as we quickly tried to mention abortion pill reversal. We are there to advocate for every child, but we realize only some mothers will respond to our pleadings to help her and her baby. We pray for them all!
One day while a team member was praying before our Lord in the tabernacle at a church close to Your Choice before counseling and felt inspired to look for a woman in a red car. Sure enough, a woman in a red car pulled up and rolled down her window and asked him for directions to Your Choice as she was pulling in! She took literature but ultimately went in. We are praying that God uses this providential encounter to ultimately save her child.
A local teacher pulled over to talk to us at the abortion facility. Although she was pro-abortion, she was very respectful and had good questions.
At Planned Parenthood, many couples arrive after the door is locked for the day, but this makes them more likely to take information and turn-away. This just happened with one such couple this month.
Our Torchbearers event was on Election Day with a training on voting pro-life and election apologetics followed by an outreach of eleven volunteers at the Statehouse holding “vote pro-life” signs. Several people took rosaries and information on the gospel. For our Third Friday outreach at Columbus State Community College, we spoke to several pro-choice students, a Muslim who said he did not really know anything about Christianity, an atheist interested in learning more, and a fallen-away Catholic. Several people took rosaries, crucifixes, and gospels of Luke.
It was during this day that it was announced to family and our volunteers that Gabriel and Anna Vance have decided to move on from working at Created Equal part-time and make Catholics for Life a full-time ministry! Please pray for us!
