The Catholic Church has constantly taught that it is always intrinsically wrong to use contraception to prevent new human beings from coming into existence.
Not only does hormonal birth control work as an abortifacient that kills young humans, but all contraception violates God's design for sexuality and marriage, altering the sexual act by closing it off to the possibility for a new life.
Contraception is “any action which, either in anticipation of the conjugal act [sexual intercourse], or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, proposes, whether as an end or as a means, to render procreation impossible” (Humanae Vitae 14).
Up until 1930, all Protestant denominations agreed with the Catholic Church’s teaching condemning contraception as sinful.
Contraception violates natural law, Sacred Scripture, and Apostolic Tradition. The widespread use of contraception has contributed to sexual immorality, divorce, acceptance of homosexuality, the break-down of the family, and abortion.

To end abortion, we must reform our culture to respect sex as an action solely between a married man and woman and that is always open to life.
